Usual & Accustomed Area Protection

The PGST Natural Resources department places special emphasis on protecting areas that fall within the Tribe’s Usual & Accustomed hunting and fishing areas. We work with other entities to make sure the Tribe’s voice is being heard in relation to projects that affect these areas.

The Tribe regularly works with private property owners to find solutions for structures and other near shore devices that can have negative impacts to fisheries, habitats, and/or water quality. One item of particular concern are mooring buoys, which can directly and adversely affect net fisheries.
